If you were running for council, what would you want to build?


During recent years, the city has been borrowing an increased amount of money to pay for items like a fire hall expansion and road projects. Do you support the plan to save $200,000 a year for building future city facilities, like a city hall or library, or would you rather continue to purchase bonds? Why or why not?

Hubmen defeat Sibley East


One week after suffering a tough loss to Holy Family, Jordan took their frustrations out on Sibley East.
The Hubmen defeated Sibley East 56-26 to improve to 5-2 on the season.
The game started out with a bang as Jordan took the opening kickoff and drove the ball for a touchdown. Sibley East answered by returning the Jordan kickoff for a touchdown. They missed the extra point to cut the lead to 7-6.
Jordan answered right back with another touchdown for a 14-6 lead. They would score two more times before the end of the first quarter to push their lead to 28-6.

Pregnant woman rear-ends backing semi


A woman 38 weeks pregnant rear-ended a semi on Valley View Drive at about 7:30 this morning.
The driver of the semi, Dana Beuning of Freeport, was backing up on the road because she missed her turn into Siwek Lumber. Sabrina Hurrle of New Prague drove into the backing semi. Hurrle claimed she couldn't see the white lights on the back of the trailer indicating the semi was moving backwards.
Hurlle's vehicle sustained severe front-end damage, but she was not injured.
