We’ve launched a new sports website


We want to report the scores and highlights from prep sports faster than anyone else, and to provide big-time journalism pieces in the print edition on a weekly basis.
So, we’ve created the new Southwest Scoreboard website, http://www.southwestscoreboard.com, which is where you will now find all your sports content.
We’re also adding major feature stories about adult recreation to the weekly print edition.

We have a special opportunity in District 191 this year. Of the three seats open this year, only one incumbent has chosen to run for re-election.

In an effort to prepare area residents for this year’s heating season and the expected high price of natural gas, Sen. John Doll, DFL-Burnsville, and Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz are hosting a community forum on energy efficiency Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in council chambers at Burnsville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Pkwy.

Pet adoption set for Oct. 18


Volunteers from the Carver Scott Humane Society will have a pet adoption Saturday, Oct. 18 from noon to 3 p.m. at Petco, located off of Singletree Lane, between Prairie Center Drive and Highway 212 in Eden Prairie. CSHS is without its own building and all pets are housed in foster care.
